Tide Charts - Outer Cape

"only when the tide goes out do you discover who's been swimming naked."
- Warren Buffett

The tides are important

The height of the water in the ocean and bay on Cape Cod can vary by 8 to 11 feet between low and high tide. In many areas, a fascinating place to paddle during high tide is inaccessible due to a lack of water at low tide. As a  rule of thumb, the 2 1/2 hours before and after high tide are the best times to paddle or sail anywhere in the Bay since that is when you will have the most water.  If you leave your boat along the shoreline, be sure to secure it ABOVE the high tide line lest your boat wash away when the tide rolls in.
